Who is responsible

Nigerians Ruin Everything is owned by Mansir Muhammed and operates as a sister project of Mansir Muhammed Research Lab LTE/GTE, based in Nigeria. The project is the data controller for information collected through this site. Make a privacy request through our contact page or email princicpal@mansirmuhammed.com.

What we collect

• When you browse: ordinary technical information such as IP address, browser details, requested pages, and timestamps may be processed in server and security logs by our hosting providers.
• When you read or appreciate an entry: a random first-party browser token, the entry, the date of the view, and any appreciation you choose to give. This is not attached to an account.
• When you create an account: email address, authentication information, display name, username, role, and account activity. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not visible to site editors.
• When you contribute: drafts, edits, revision history, uploaded media, and the account attached to that work.
• When you suggest or contact us: the title and message you submit, plus any optional email address or handle you provide.
• When you answer a campaign: your story, name if supplied, email, contact preference, sources, credit preference, newsletter choice, and campaign attribution such as UTM labels and referring domain. A pseudonymous request fingerprint is used for short-term abuse limits; the campaign dashboard does not expose an IP address.
• When you join the newsletter: your email address, signup source, confirmation and subscription status, delivery events, and an unsubscribe token. A pseudonymous request fingerprint is used for short-term signup limits.

Why we use it

We use personal data to provide accounts and editorial tools, publish and protect the record, respond to messages and corrections, prevent abuse, maintain security, and send the newsletter you requested. Depending on the activity, our lawful basis is your consent, performance of our service to you, compliance with law, or our legitimate interest in safely operating and improving the site.

Where it goes

We use service providers to run the site, including Supabase for database, authentication, and file storage, and the provider that hosts the deployed application. The email delivery provider receives the address and message information needed to send requested emails, process unsubscribes, and report delivery, bounce, suppression, or complaint events. These providers process data for us under their own security and privacy commitments. Data may be processed outside Nigeria where a provider hosts its systems, subject to appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.

Public articles and credited contributions are, by their nature, visible to everyone. We may disclose information where required by law, to protect people or the service, or during a legitimate transfer of the project. We do not sell personal data.

Cookies and local storage

Authentication uses cookies needed to keep signed-in users secure. The newsletter prompt stores a small preference in your browser so it remembers whether you subscribed or dismissed it. The site stores a random first-party browser token to avoid counting the same reader repeatedly on the same day and to remember whether that browser appreciated an entry. The token is also used for campaign view counts. Campaign pages suppress the timed newsletter prompt. The site currently has no advertising cookies, Meta Pixel, Google Ads tag, or third-party behavioural analytics. If that changes, this notice and any required consent controls must be updated first.

How long we keep information

We keep account and contribution records while they are needed to operate the editorial record, preserve revision integrity, meet legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Suggestions and contact messages are reviewed and removed when they are no longer useful. Newsletter details are kept while you are subscribed. Unconfirmed requests expire after 48 hours and may be deleted after operational review. After you unsubscribe, bounce, or report a message, a limited suppression and delivery record may be retained so we do not send again by mistake. Security logs are retained according to the host's operational schedule.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal data, and you may object to certain processing. You can withdraw newsletter consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in an email. Some information may need to be retained where the law permits or requires it, including records needed to protect the integrity of published edits.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission through ndpc.gov.ng.

Children

The public record can be read without submitting personal data. Accounts, newsletter signup, and public submissions are not intended for children under 18 without the involvement of a parent or guardian. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data improperly.

Changes

We may update this notice when the service or law changes. The date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be given appropriate notice.
